Historical Context / Interesting Facts / Transcription:
The Green-Meldrim House, constructed in the early 1850s in Gothic Revival style, served as General William Tecumseh Sherman's headquarters in December 1864 during the occupation of Savannah. Designated a National Historic Landmark in 1976; now the parish house of St. John's Episcopal Church.
Transcription (printed text on back): During the Civil War Savannah was taken by Sherman, Dec. 21, 1864, at the end of the famous march to the sea. After considerable controversy Sherman and his 60,000 men reached the town, which was held by Hardee with 17,000 Confederates. Two days later, Dec. 23, 1864, took Ft. McAllister, thus establishing communication with Dahlgren's fleet, enabling all classes of supplies to be sent to the army. Hardee evacuated the city, by means of a pontoon bridge, on the night of Dec. 20.

The CP Score is a collectibility rating weighing how many collectors pursue this type of item, its scarcity, how often it trades, and its condition and attributes. In the collectibles market, items with strong demand and limited supply tend to hold value and resell more easily; a high score signals broad collector appeal, a lower score a more common or niche piece. It is a guide to collector interest, not an appraisal.
CP Score scale: 1–99 Common (easily available, high survival numbers) · 100–299 Scarce (harder to find in top condition, lower numbers) · 300–999 Rare (difficult to acquire, limited known specimens) · 1000–1999 Very Rare to Extremely Rare (museum or auction-grade scarcity) · 2000+ Unique (only one single example is known to exist in the entire world). Most items score between 100 and 1000; the scale is open-ended so truly exceptional pieces can score higher.
